Whirlpool representatives met on Monday, February 8, with President Alberto Fernández, the Minister of Productive Development Matías Kulfas and the Secretary of Industry, Ariel Schale, to announce the investment of 40 million dollars for the construction of a new plant in Argentina that will generate 1,000 direct and indirect jobs. On behalf of the company, João Carlos Brega, President of Whirlpool Latin America, and, in person, Guillermo Felice, Country Manager Argentina and Agustín del Castillo, Communications and Public Affairs Manager, among other executives, participated via videoconference.
The new plant will produce high-capacity washing machines and will complement the company's production and supply in Latin America. Two thirds of the production will be destined for export. The industrial equipment will have the most advanced technology, will be adapted to global production processes and will implement World Class Manufacturing quality standards, with a focus on sustainable operations, products and practices. The announcement marks a new milestone in the country's industrialization process and in the history of the company, which also has operations in Uruguay, Paraguay, Bolivia and Chile.
“Within the framework of a strategic decision, and since Whirlpool Corporation has extensive experience in the production of front-loading washing items in Argentina, we chose the country as a key point to complement the productive capacity of the region, developing this supply center and generating a new supply model,” mentioned João Carlos Brega, President Whirlpool Latin America.
