On January 16, at the age of 90, Américo Alladio, creator of the largest washing machine factory in the country, died.
Américo created the first prototype of a washing machine in 1949 together with his father when, after having been to an invention fair, he learned what this new product was about. That same year, the company was born and employed 20 people in Luque, a town southeast of Córdoba.
In 1988, it opened a more modern plant and began producing washing machines. In 1995 the company acquired the rights to Drean and in 1997 they produced the first automatic washing machine in the country.
Today, 30% of the economically active population of Luque works at JOSE M. ALLADIO e HIJOS S.A., thus being one of the largest employers in the area and one of the most prominent companies, manufacturing 2 out of every 3 washing machines sold in the country and exporting to 8 countries.
The company remembered the founder as follows:
“All of us who are part of the great Alladio family today feel deep pain and sadness for the loss of our founder Don Américo Alladio.
Example of a tireless worker, humility, honesty, human warmth and love for the factory and its collaborators. We accompany your family and friends from the heart!
Rest in peace dear Don Américo, reason for our pride and in your honor we will continue with passion to grow this great company! Thanks for the example!”
