Whirlpool inaugurates its production plant to export to the region after investing US$52 million in Pilar. It will manufacture 300,000 high-capacity washing machines per year and will generate more than 1,000 direct and indirect jobs.

Whirlpool announces the inauguration of its new production plant in Fátima, within the Pilar district, in which it invested US$52 million. The official event was led on October 21 by Joao Carlos Brega, Global VP and President of Whirlpool Latin America, and was attended by national, provincial and municipal authorities, as well as representatives of the third sector.

It is a high-capacity washing machine manufacturing plant, the company's most modern in the world, which will produce 300 thousand units per year, a key milestone for Whirlpool in Argentina due to technology, volume and investment. The 30,000 m2 factory in Fátima, Polo Pilar, has a strategic location close to the main ports which will allow the company to focus on the export of products.

"With more than 30 years in Argentina, Whirlpool is one of the main home appliance brands in the country. Now we seek to be the largest exporter of the white goods industry in the country. This success is the product of constant and continuous work in research, development and innovation with the focus on offering the best products to our consumers," he expressed. João Carlos Brega.

Export and jobs
Whirlpool will become, thanks to this growth in production capacity, the largest exporter of household appliances in Argentina and will have the capacity to finish a washing machine in approximately 40 seconds. It is expected that two thirds of what it manufactures will be exported to Latin America, mainly to Brazil, which will generate annual foreign exchange for the country of more than US$50 million.

The plant will generate 400 direct jobs and, adding the indirect ones, the figure will be about 1,000 new jobs, which will allow the development and strengthening of the chain of national suppliers and industrial partners. A specific selection and induction process is underway to ensure personnel with knowledge and skills for a dynamic environment with high productive standards.
