Cencosud, owner of the Jumbo, Disco chains, see, among others in Argentina, announced Alejandro Arruiz's appointment in his new role as general manager of supermarkets for Argentina.
"The challenge of leading three excellent brands such as Jumbo, Disco and Vaa, as well as the new flag, Spid, which joined in 2021, is what brought me back to Argentina," said ruiz, in a statement sent to this medium.
"We are a great team, with work plans with focus on consumers and their needs and fundamentally, wanting to boost innovative proposals to surprise our clients," he said.
Arruiz cuenta con 24 años de experiencia en el negocio de Supermercados y Cash & Carry.
The brand new executive is a national public accountant of the Pontifical Catholic University Argentina (UCA) and studied postgraduate studies in Retail (Edde Argentina) and senior Management Program (IE Spain).
He entered Jumbo Argentina in 1998 and until 2008 he served in the commercial area of that chain, occupying different positions. That same year he assumed as commercial manager of Cencosud Peru, for the Wong and Metro brands, since he occupied until 2011.
En 2012 se trasladó a Brasil para desempeñarse en el cargo de director Comercial de Cencosud. En 2018 fue nombrado Director General de Bretas, empresa con 80 tiendas de Supermercados y Cash & Carry de Cencosud, cargo que ocupó hasta diciembre de 2021, cuando retornó a la Argentina para liderar la Unidad de Negocio de Supermercados de la compañía.
