After a 2020 worthy of a roller coaster, the firm Muebles Orlandi SRL faced 2021 with new growth plans. With an investment of $20 M, it develops a project to be in line with current consumer trends, adapting the packaging to the requirements established by electronic commerce.
The firm specializes in the production of RTA (Ready To Assemble) furniture. It does not sell directly to the public but does so through different retail chains or large stores. As explained by its owner Javier Orlandi, many of its clients experienced increases in their online sales, which demanded a change in the assembly of the products.
"This year we are investing about $20 M in different aspects of the company. An important part is related to the packaging of our articles, which is in accordance with what e-commerce requires," the businessman explained to Punto biz.
The disbursement involves, among other aspects, a new 3,000 m2 warehouse for raw materials, which will be ready towards the end of the year. This expansion is added to another completed in 2019 (it was 6,000 m2), with which they plan to close 2021 with a total of 42,000 m2 at their Elortondo plant, south of Santa Fe.
"In 2020, when the first hard stage of the quarantine ended, much of the excess money that people had was used to buy durable goods. We grew 15% in units sold. Now we are sustaining ourselves. We are fine," added Orlandi, who said that with the projects in development "we are going to improve a lot in efficiency, in safety."
Orlandi also works with a project linked to the education of the families of its 130 employees (due to its size, it is the main firm in the town). “We created a school support unit project, where we hired a teacher and provided support to all the sons and daughters of our staff who are at the primary level,” said Orlandi proudly, who framed the plan within the firm's Corporate Social Responsibility actions.
