BITALI: A first report with multiple commitments

The company aims for continuous improvement and promotes ways to positively impact the environment, the communities where it operates and society in general.

Bitali, a company with 100% national capital, was born in the 1960s and today is a leader in the production of mattresses and pillows.fairies, presented its first Sustainability Report this year. The document particularly highlights its commitment to ethics, transparency and alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, covering areas such as Decent Work and Economic Growth, Sustainable Cities and Communities, Responsible Production and Consumption, and Climate Action.

“Over the years, we have transformed the company with the conviction that we can transcend borders, both geographical and conceptual,” highlighted Verónica Vara, president of BITALI, in the Report's presentation letter. “We have established ourselves as absolute leaders in the Argentine market of products for rest, but our horizon goes beyond commercial concepts.”

“Bitali's first Sustainability Report is a significant milestone that reflects our commitment to excellence in all our operations and the integration of responsible practices at the heart of our business,” said Javier Arriola, CEO of the company.

Despite the overall headwinds, 2023 was a period of triple-whammy growth for Bitali. The company achieved significant achievements that reflect its daily commitment to quality, sustainability and the well-being of its employees. The company implements an integrated quality policy, environment, safety and occupational health, through which it aspires to achieve high standards that distinguish it in the market.

It obtained ISO 14001 and 9001 certifications in its industrial plants, which reaffirms its commitment to responsible environmental management and excellence in quality management. Bitali's growth was supported by the “Great Place to Work” certification, which is awarded to companies that demonstrate a work culture of high trust and satisfaction among their employees. Among its most notable initiatives are benefits and training programs, and health and safety at work, such as the Zero Accident Program.

Bitali obtained ISO 14001 and 9001 certifications at its plants, reaffirming its commitment to responsible environmental management and excellence in quality management. Promotes the circular economy through products that were left out of the commercial circuit, but in conditions of being reused.

In social investment, the company has been establishing alliances with organizations to help those who need it most. Starting with the creation of the DAR Program (donate, contribute and recycle), Bitali contributes to the rest, well-being and quality of life of the most unprotected communities, with a special focus on children and adolescents. Collaborate with NGOs such as Dignified Housing, Food Bank and the María Luisa Home, among others, donating mattresses, pillows and accessories. In addition, it promotes the circular economy through the donation of unused mattresses (in condition to be reused) when consumers purchase a new mattress.

In environmental management, Bitali took a fundamental step in the decarbonization process by signing an agreement with YPF Luz, which makes it possible for its El Talar industrial plant to operate with 100% renewable energy, achieving an annual reduction of more than 535 tons of carbon. Likewise, it promotes sustainability in its logistics chain through an alliance with Andreani, a supplier that uses biofuels in its operations, and contributes significantly to the reduction of CO2 emissions.

Added to this is the success of the “Se-pa-rá Program”, which manages and recycles materials through waste separation and composting, reducing the amount of waste that goes to landfill. Bitali continues the legacy started in a small workshop on Estomba Street. Today, with five industrial plants, it remains committed to leaving a positive mark on the industry and its environment.

The company was born as the brand that represents the Comfort and Wellbeing division of Grupo Piero, with the main objective of being the agent of transformation that improves people's well-being and their quality of life. Currently, BITALI is made up of 6 brands: Piero, Cannon, Suavestar, Suavegom, Gani and Rosen. It has 5 industrial plants in three provinces: El Talar, Munro and Capilla del Señor located in the province of Buenos Aires, and San Luis and Sauce Viejo in Santa Fe.
