We spoke with Matías Victoriano, Sales Coordinator of Tesa, the German company with 125 years of history as a provider of adhesive tape solutions for industry and commerce, which aims to expand in the Argentine appliance market.
What is the company's presence globally and how is it positioned in Argentina?
Tesa is a German company belonging to the Beiersdorf Group, with 125 years of experience. It is one of the leading global manufacturers in self-adhesive products y system solutions for industry, commerce and consumers.
We have 6 regional offices, 14 production centers and 61 subsidiaries around the world, including Argentina. We have been present in the country for 11 years with a subsidiary in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Nuñez.
Taking all that global experience that we have in adhesive solutions for different industries, today we are focused on promoting our product portfolio in this region, focusing especially on the home appliance market. That is why we are going to carry out several marketing actions for 2024.
How is your portfolio composed and what are the main advantages?
Our portfolio covers more than 7,000 products which are sold in more than 100 countries. It includes different types of adhesives and tapes designed to satisfy a wide variety of applications for industry and commerce, which contribute to the optimization of production processes. This translates into a significant reduction in operating costs and, at the same time, a notable improvement in the quality of the final product.
Compared to traditional non-chemical adhesives, Tesa tapes stand out for their ability to hold efficiently, without leaving residue, and with great firmness.
What are the specific solutions you offer for the home appliance market?
For two years we have been very focused at the regional level on targeting what is appliances or white goods. We know that the end customer demands cutting-edge design and features. In this sense, our tapes provide efficiency and quality to the production process. We offer a wide range of adhesive solutions for various types of home appliances such as refrigerators, ovens, dishwashers, washing machines, and commercial appliances such as industrial refrigerators and freezers.
Our tapes are used in different applications such as assembly and joints, ventilation solutions for cooling devices, adhesion of emblems, logos, brands and any special identification. They are also used in protecting surfaces, packaging and securing during transport.
Our flagship product is the love Strapping. This tape is manufactured in a way that is impossible to tear by hand, and above all it has a special type of adhesive that when removed leaves no residue on the appliance. This is a very special technology that Tesa has within its portfolio of tapes for the white goods market. For example, they are found in visible places in refrigerators, such as drawers. They are also used in refrigerator coils to prevent temperature leaks.
In the home appliance market, we currently have commercial agreements with important manufacturing companies.

What is Tesa's strategy to adapt to new market requirements?
We have a very large Research and Development department where we develop products and solutions according to the needs of clients in their production processes. We believe that innovation is fundamental to our success. A concrete example of this is that 50% of our sales worldwide come from developments in the last 5 years.
Providing technical support is our differential and it is what the market still does not have, that is why we are committed to developing customized solutions for each client. Our intention is that our experts can visit a plant, see the process, and based on that a product is developed according to your needs. We aim to enable customers to improve their efficiency, being able to replace liquid adhesive solutions with tapes within their production process. We continually research and develop new materials and production processes. This allows us to offer more sustainable and advanced products, such as solvent-free NRE technology.
What aspects is your future focus focused on?
One of the key aspects we are putting a strong focus on going forward is sustainability. A significant part of our product portfolio is undergoing a transition towards sustainability. We are taking concrete steps to incorporate sustainable practices into our processes. For example, in some categories the plastic cones inside the tapes are being replaced with cardboard cones. We focus on ensuring that our products are obtained in a more environmentally friendly way.
