
Newsan: Innovation and technology with support in sustainability
Newsan presented its Report with everything carried out by the company in 2023.

In a challenging global environment, the company reinforces its sustainability strategy, promotes transformation programs focused on innovation and value creation in its businesses and prioritizes five lines of action.
Newsan, the leading group in Argentina in the manufacturing, import, marketing and distribution of consumer electronics and household appliances products, Last year, it worked on the analysis and integration of processes and practices to strengthen and renew its sustainability strategy, based on the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda and global trends.
In its 2023 Sustainability Report, the company detailed the achievements achieved and the commitments made to continue strengthening its sustainable development. The report was prepared based on the international standards of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and incorporating, for the first time, the sector standards of the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB).
The company's sustainability strategy is a roadmap that guides the responsible and transparent management of business units based on five priority axes of action: Governance; Value Chain Management; People's Wellbeing; Climate Action and Community Development with a focus on Newsan IN, the company's triple impact business based on the circular and social economy, the knowledge economy and social investment management.
“We are convinced that sustainability is a fundamental pillar of business success,” said Marcela Cominelli, Senior Manager of Legal, Public Affairs and Sustainability. “That is why we integrate ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) criteria in all our operations and work to create shared value for all our stakeholders.”
One of the milestones in management was the consolidation of Gen Digital. With more than 150 digital initiatives and projects, Newsan promoted collaborative work through a common agenda. “Digital transformation allowed us to achieve significant results thanks to automation and the adoption of new technologies,” said Galli. The transformation of the work experience was deepened to promote well-being, diversity and inclusion in the work spaces and generate value for the more than 9,000 people who make up the teams. Work was carried out with training and protocols for the eradication and prevention of violence and on the expansion of the Newsan IN triple impact business model, to promote employability and training in trades in the communities with teams of more than 100 people in the production and sales units. One of the objectives is to develop young people's technical skills and awaken interest and STEM skills: technology, electronics, programming, mathematics and 3D printing.
Another important axis for Newsan is the knowledge economy. The company integrates its technological advances with training and learning tools for the future. With more than 65,000 hours of internal training and 1,200 students at the Newsan Olympics, we contributed to the training and development of opportunities, and the search and creation of sustainable solutions for businesses and communities.
Environmental Management
The company operates in Tierra del Fuego within the framework of multiple environmental regulations that promote the treatment and recycling of waste and materials, such as the Tierra del Fuego Environmental Law, Provincial Law 105 on Hazardous Waste, the Minimum Budget Law on Urban Solid Waste Management and Resolution 258/21 of Recoverable Waste Operators, among others. A formal procedure was developed for the classification, storage, treatment and final disposal of materials and waste, focused on reduction, reuse, recovery and recycling.
In the production lines of air conditioners, 20% recycled inputs are used, corresponding to product defense and reuse of boxes or mockups.
89% of hazardous and non-hazardous waste was recycled, including materials such as cardboard, plastic, sheet metal and aluminum.
Compared to 2022, 37% of waste destined for final disposal in Ushuaia was reduced. Under the Newsan IN approach, more than 74,300 units and products were reconditioned since the beginning of the program, in 2016, and 9,056 in 2023 alone. A 60% recovery rate was achieved plus 16,000 kilos of reconditioned scrap, and more than 200,000 kilos were managed responsibly since the beginning of the program.
