LG opens a new smart factory in Brazil and will begin supplying the Argentine market from the end of the year
The plant, located in Paraná and 2,000 kilometers from Buenos Aires, required an investment of 1.5 billion reais and will have an initial capacity of more than 600,000 units per year. LG plans to sell 42,000 refrigerators in Argentina during 2027.
LG Electronics inaugurated a new refrigerator production plant in Paraná, Brazil, which will begin supplying the Argentine market towards the end of this year. The facility becomes the company's second refrigerator factory in Latin America, along with the one it operates in Mexico.
The new plant is located about 2,000 kilometers from Buenos Aires and will have a central role in LG's supply strategy in the region. Its proximity to Argentina will allow it to reduce logistical times and expand the local availability of new refrigerator models.
The facility required an investment of 1.5 billion reais and has a production capacity of more than 500,000 refrigerators per year in a single shift, which is equivalent to 1,644 refrigerators per day. In addition, it was designed to incorporate new product lines in the future, including washing machines.
This is LG's first new facility in Brazil in 21 years and complements the operation that the company has maintained in Manaus since 1995, dedicated to the manufacturing of electronic products.
More regional production and new models for Argentina
For LG Argentina, the incorporation of the Brazilian plant represents a change in the supply strategy of its white goods business. The first units produced in Paraná would arrive in the country towards the end of 2026 and will be progressively available in the main points of sale.
"The launch of the new LG plant in Paraná is a strategic step for our growth in Argentina. Its location, just 2,000 kilometers from Buenos Aires, together with the logistical and tariff advantages of Mercosur, will allow us to expand our offer and improve our competitiveness in the local market. By 2027 we plan to market more than 40,000 refrigerators produced in Brazil, incorporating new Top Freezer and Bottom Freezer models that have already been presented to the main retailers in the country during Innofest, where they received a very positive response. The first units manufactured in Brazil will arrive in Argentina towards the end of this year, expanding the options available to Argentine consumers.“he pointed out Enrique Laffue, CEO of LG Argentina.
By 2027, the company plans to market 30,000 Top Freezer and 12,000 Bottom Freezer refrigerators in Argentina, reaching an estimated total volume of 42,000 units.
The arrival of these new models aims to expand LG's presence in the Argentine refrigerator market, with a proposal focused on design, energy efficiency and technology applied to everyday use.
The new operation in Brazil is part of LG's global strategy to expand its presence in the home appliance market and strengthen its regional production, under the “Life's Good” brand concept.
