In an event held at its new plant in the town of Pilar, the company celebrated the export of washing machines to Brazil for the first time in 20 years.
The Whirlpool company announced the export of washing machines for the first time in 20 years to Brazil, in an event recently held at its brand new Pilar plant, which was attended by the President of the Nation Alberto Fernández, and the president of Whirlpool Latin America Juan Carlos Puente, among other officials and company directors.
In dialogue with Telam, Puente highlighted: "This plant for manufacturing high-capacity front-loading washing machines is a key milestone in the history of Whirlpool in Argentina. Due to volume and investment, it is a strategic business definition that is committed to the country. It will allow Argentina to be integrated into the productive matrix that Whirlpool has in the region."
The shipment of washing machines left the Pilar plant at the end of March and arrived in the neighboring country in recent days.
"It is the kick-off for the growth of our productive presence in the country. We are proud to generate new jobs and strengthen the development of local SMEs that make up our value chain in Pilar," added Martín Castro, CEO of Whirlpool Argentina.
Currently, the plant has 250 employees and by July they estimate to incorporate one more production shift with the incorporation of 150 workers.
The new Pilar washing machine plant, inaugurated in October 2022, is the most modern in South America, and was made with an initial investment of 52 million dollars. It has an installed production capacity of more than 300,000 units per year and incorporates cutting-edge technology with World Class Manufacturing (WCM) quality standards, based on sustainable operations and practices.
