Whirlpool Corporation announced the appointment of Juan Carlos Puente as the new executive vice president and president of Whirlpool Latin America, replacing João Carlos Brega.

Brega, after 27 years with the company, will leave his position on March 31, 2023 as part of a long-term succession process.

"Having been able to serve the incredible people of Whirlpool, our consumers and our communities for most of my career has been an incredible experience. I am extremely proud to have been a part of this great company," Brega said in a statement.

"I feel comfortable leaving the Whirlpool Latin America region in the hands of Juan Carlos Puente, who is a respected leader who generates trust. I am sure that he will lead the region to achieve even greater success," he concluded.

Juan Carlos Puente joined Whirlpool Corporation in 1996 and has since held several global leadership positions, including leading the laundry business for the North American Region, as well as president of Whirlpool Mexico and vice president of market operations for Whirlpool's EMEA Region.

He recently served as President of Whirlpool Latin America Region, where he successfully led the region's integration and transformation, Top of Line growth, profitability and product innovation, generating value through a consumer-centric approach.

Likewise, Puente recently completed the AMP Executive Program (Advance management program), Business, Strategy and Leadership at Harvard Business School. He has a Global Executive MBA from EGADE Business School in Monterrey, Mexico, and a bachelor's degree in International Business from the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey, also in Monterrey.
