Electric mobility: new ways of moving are gaining ground in cities
Electric cars, motorcycles, bicycles and scooters expand the alternatives for daily travel. In Argentina, interest in these technologies is growing and is beginning to outline a scenario where mobility, energy and technology are increasingly connected.
Electric mobility is no longer limited to the car. Electric bicycles and motorcycles, scooters, compact urban vehicles and solutions for the last mile expand the alternatives for getting around and begin to change the way we think about daily trips.
The change goes beyond technology. Faced with different distances and needs, the car is no longer necessarily the only answer, while other options begin to gain space and integrate into the routine of the cities.
A transformation that is beginning to be seen in Argentina
Although electrification still represents a minority portion of the Argentine market, some signs show a growing interest in these technologies.
According to Car One data, hybrid and electric vehicle operations registered by the company between August 2025 and July 2026 grew by nearly 2,000% compared to the same previous period. In addition, units with new technologies already represent 7.4% of its 0 km vehicle operations.
Fuel savings, the cost of use and tax benefits appear among the factors driving this growth. Habits are also changing: charging an electric vehicle overnight at home, for example, offers a different dynamic than going through a service station.
Daily trips also present different needs. Getting to work, making a purchase, making a delivery or connecting to public transport do not necessarily require the same solution. In this scenario, electric bicycles, motorcycles and scooters, especially on short urban journeys, find a space to complement other means of transport.
The trend also reaches business activity. Urban logistics, delivery and the last mile They appear among the areas where these alternatives can find new applications, especially in frequent routes and predictable distances.
A market that goes beyond the vehicle
As electrification gains ground, its effects extend to infrastructure and associated services. The expansion of charging points is one of the most visible changes, but new needs related to batteries, connectivity and digital tools capable of managing consumption, routes and fleets also appear.
Thus, mobility, technology and energy begin to come together in the same scenario. For Argentina, still in an initial stage, this process poses an evolution that does not depend only on the incorporation of new vehicles, but also on the capacity of the cities, companies and the different actors involved to accompany these changes.
This emerging market will have a new connection space in Buenos Aires: Future Mobility, the mobility fair that will bring together the different actors linked to new mobility and will allow you to learn up close about the trends, technologies and opportunities that are beginning to take shape in the sector.
The question going forward could cease to be only “what vehicle to buy?” to become “how should I move?”. The response may combine different alternatives depending on the route, the time available, the cost and the needs of each user.
In that sense, electric mobility is beginning to stop being a category associated exclusively with the automobile and become a new way of understanding urban travel. This emerging market will have a new connection space in Buenos Aires: Future Mobility, which will be developed within the framework of Electronics & Home, in La Rural, on the days June 28, 29 and 30, and will bring together different proposals and actors linked to the new mobility.
