The agreement began with the local production, by Mirgor, of the Yolo and UP 32 cell phone models to meet the demand of the entry-level segment made up mainly of adolescents and pre-teens looking for cell phones at affordable and quality prices. The brand aims to reach first place in this segment, which today represents 15% of the total cell phone market.

"Quantum stands out for offering quality and better features in a sector of the market where this is not common. We are making a strong bet. We know that we are accompanied by one of the leading companies in the country in terms of efficiency and telephone production standards," said Ariel Elizalde, Country Manager of Quantum in Argentina.

The objective is to reach a total sale of 150,000 cell phones this year and in August add a new launch incorporating a mid-range device to the Quantum offer. By 2023, the brand aims to exceed half a million devices sold in the local market. To this end, it will advance promotional campaigns on public roads, bus windows, massive TV programs, among others, with special weight during special dates, such as Father's Day, Mother's Day, among others.

According to spokespersons, one of Quantum's distinctive aspects is its after-sales customer service. With a service offer without prior appointment and shipping at no cost to the user, the brand differentiates itself from the usual service standards in this segment.

Mirgor began producing the new Quantum models during the first half of 2021 at its Forgacs plant, located in the industrial hub of Río Grande, Tierra del Fuego. For this project the company invested US$500,000 and is also in charge of the commercial distribution of the equipment to the entire retail network in the country.

Eduardo Koroch, Industrial Director of Mirgor explained: "After more than 37 years in the national industry, today we have the track record and experience in the local market that Quantum is looking for to stand out. We have 5 industrial sites in Río Grande, Tierra del Fuego, and we have both the capacity and the necessary knowledge to enhance Quantum and help them achieve their expansion objectives in the region."

On the other hand, Ignacio Cocco, Head of Sales at Mirgor Regional, highlighted that the company has more than 2,500 retailers as clients, from small to large supermarket or appliance chains, to its own stores such as Diggit (physical and online), Mercado Libre store and electronic sales through Mercado Libre.

The starting models
The Yolo model stands out for being the only one in the segment that has 32 gigabytes of storage and is designed for users up to 15 years old who do not usually use data service but rather WI FI, combined with an affordable price ($11,000).

On the other hand, the UP32 ($13,500) also has 32 gigabytes, and has a 5.5-inch, 8-megapixel screen and a flash on the front camera. This model is designed for young people over 15 years of age who already have a data plan and use their cell phone more intensively outside the home and for social networks.

In the coming months, a new model with a capacity of 128 GB will be presented at an approximate price of $25,000 (as of today).
