Home appliances led the recovery of durable consumption in 2025
According to the recent analysis by NielsenIQ, the market registered a year-on-year growth of 23% in unit sales in 2025, with an outstanding performance of white goods and small appliances (+36%), driven by commercial openness, greater availability of products, historically low relative prices and greater access to credit for families.
The Argentine appliance market closed 2025 with a 23% year-on-year expansion in unit sales, consolidating itself as one of the most dynamic segments of the year within durable goods. In particular, the categories of white goods and small appliances stood out with a growth of 36% annually, far exceeding the market average.
This performance positioned the home appliance sector as one of the big winners of 2025, in line with what was observed in other durable markets such as cars and motorcycles, and in contrast to the evolution of other areas of mass consumption.
The growth responded to a combination of factors on both the supply and demand sides. In terms of supply, 2025 was a record year for imports of household appliances, driven by the opening and deregulation of trade. This context allowed a strong expansion of the assortment and the volume available, especially in those categories that had been most affected by import restrictions in previous years.
The greater availability of products also led to episodes of price deflation throughout several months of the year, which implied a drop in the relative price of household appliances compared to the general CPI. This phenomenon resulted in historically low prices, strengthening the purchase incentive by consumers.
From the demand side, the lower relative price was consolidated as the main driver of growth, accompanied by a significant change in access to credit for families, particularly oriented to the purchase of durable goods. This momentum was maintained even during the period of financial turbulence associated with the legislative elections, showing the strength of the sector's recovery.
Added to this was the improvement of the real salary of the registered private sector, observed with greater intensity during the first half of the year, which reinforced consumption capacity in a context of greater access to financing and more accessible prices.
"The end of 2025 confirms that the appliance market was one of the great protagonists of the year. The combination of greater supply, lower prices in relative terms and a more active financial system in consumer credit generated a very favorable scenario for the recovery of the sector," he noted. Eduardo Echevarría, Market CS Manager de NielsenIQ. And he added: “This new supply regime allowed historically restricted categories to lead growth, marking a turning point for the durables market in Argentina.”
