Within the framework of International Gaming Day, NielsenIQ (NIQ), a world-leading company in consumer intelligence, shares an x-ray of the gaming market in Argentina that shows an increasingly broad ecosystem, where consoles continue to occupy a central place, but coexist with computers, monitors and different accessories that complete the gaming experience.

According to NielsenIQ information corresponding to the period January-July 2026, las Video game consoles were consolidated as the most relevant category in the gaming segment, by concentrating the 44% of total sales value and represent the 19% of units sold.

The data reflects the weight that this category continues to have within the market: although they represent less than a fifth of the products sold in units, consoles explain practically half of the segment's turnover.

An ecosystem that goes far beyond consoles

However, talking about gaming no longer means referring only to a console. The gaming experience is built around an ever-expanding set of devices and accessories.

Las Notebooks represent 19% of the total turnover of the gaming segment, becoming one of the main categories by value. In turn, the monitors concentrate 11% of sales in value, reinforcing its relevance within the market.

Added to these categories are products such as keyboards, headphones and mice, which maintain a notable participation in volume. This shows that users continue to invest not only in the main equipment, but also in products intended to complement and improve their gaming experience.

"Gaming is no longer concentrated solely on consoles and today is configured as a much broader ecosystem. Notebooks, monitors and accessories are part of the same consumer experience, and the data shows that users continue to invest in different devices to complete their equipment," he said. Brenda Marengo, Senior Specialist CSM of NielsenIQ Argentina.

This composition also allows us to observe different behaviors within the same category. While consoles have a significantly greater weight in turnover, accessories acquire a relevant presence when the market is analyzed in units.

85% of the units are sold online

Another of the main characteristics of the gaming segment is its strong link with electronic commerce. During the first seven months of 2026, the online channel concentrated 85% of the units sold within the segment and represented the 71% of total turnover. In this way, more than 8 out of 10 gaming products sold are sold through the online channel, confirming the high level of digitization of this category.

"The prominence of e-commerce also reflects the profile of this consumer. The online environment occupies a central place in the purchasing process of gaming products and has become the main marketing channel for the segment," added Marengo.

The difference between the participation of the online channel in units (85%) and in billing (71%) also reflects the coexistence of products with different price levels: from consoles, notebooks and monitors to accessories intended to complete the equipment.

In this scenario, NielsenIQ data shows a market in which consoles continue to lead in terms of billing, but where the gaming experience increasingly extends to different devices and peripherals.

Thus, notebooks, monitors, keyboards, headphones and mice are part of an expanding ecosystem, while the strong predominance of the online channel confirms the markedly digital nature of the category.

In it International Gaming Day, this x-ray allows us to size a segment that transcends consoles and is consolidated as a technological ecosystem made up of multiple categories and accessories.
