The BGH Río Grande plant became the first factory in Tierra del Fuego to achieve certification from the Argentine Institute for Standardization and Certification (IRAM) based on the COVID 19 standard.
“We were among the first plants in Tierra del Fuego to resume industrial operation after the Covid quarantine and today we are the first to certify with the IRAM Covid-19 standard,” he assured. Guillermo Fernandez, Director of Supply Chain and Operations at BGH. “Everything was possible thanks to the incorporation of a strict biosafety protocol agreed with the provincial authorities, superior to the current regulatory standards and the awareness and excellent predisposition of our collaborators to comply with the measures established with the objective of protecting our health, that of the members of the value chain and the community in general,” he added.
The audit that was carried out to achieve recognition consisted of 2 stages, the first a documentary review that will comply with the indications of the IRAM 3820 standard and a second stage that was a 2-day in-person audit at the plant by the designated auditor.
In this sense, multidisciplinary meetings were held, specifically with the occupational medicine and safety and hygiene service to establish the needs according to provincial and national requirements. Prevention and action mechanisms were established, such as construction of isolation rooms, signage and advertising. There were changes in external services such as transportation, security and dining. The separation of schedules for disinfection and weekly disinfections of complete facilities was established and the treatment of plant waste was modified, among other measures.
The BGH plant in Río Grande, Tierra del Fuego, has 42,000 square meters of surface, where it produces air conditioners, televisions and microwaves for its own brand and for third parties. It currently employs more than 1000 people.
