This year Royal Enfield together with Grupo Simpa expanded their commitment by announcing today that they will begin local production of 3 motorcycle models, at the industrial plant located in the town of Campana, Buenos Aires. This is a historic event, as it will be the first time in the modern history of a brand that is more than 119 years old that a Royal Enfield motorcycle will be produced outside of the parent plant in Chennai, India.

In the last two years, we have increased our international presence significantly and now have a wide presence in 60 countries. Our plans include establishing local assembly units in specific markets, we are very happy to announce the first plant in Argentina"

Local production will also include integration with national parts produced locally. The initiative will begin with the production of 3 models today, (Himalayan, Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650). In addition, the investment plan contemplates the national production of new models for the year 2021.

For his part, Martín Schwartz, Director of the Vehicle Division of the SIMPA Group, commented: "The objective of the investment is to increase the productive capacity installed in our plant to continue consolidating our position as leaders in the medium and high-end motorcycle segment. Our industrial profile will allow Royal Enfield to consolidate with a long-term commitment in the Argentine market."

This milestone in the history of Grupo SIMPA S.A. It is part of a broad investment plan of 700 million pesos and the generation of nearly 100 new direct jobs for the current year and the first half of 2021. 30% of these positions have already been implemented, projecting to add 20 additional jobs before the end of the year and another 50 more positions during the first half of 2021.
