In a business environment where resource optimization is key, Epson, a global leader in printing technology, introduces its patented paper-saving technology for point-of-sale (POS) printers. This solution, designed to reduce receipt paper consumption, offers companies a tangible competitive advantage by transforming a recurring expense into an opportunity for significant savings and an operation with environmental benefits.

Although the individual cost of a receipt may seem insignificant, the daily accumulation of millions of impressions creates a significant impact on a company's budget, time and resources. Epson has identified this problem and has developed a solution to address this challenge.

“Every day, millions of receipts are printed in stores, and with them come hidden costs that often go unnoticed,” says Malena Madrid, Group Product Manager of Epson Latin America. “At Epson, we have developed a technology that allows significant savings without compromising legibility or print quality”, he added.

Epson's paper savings: a tangible competitive advantage

Epson point-of-sale printers incorporate patented technology that can reduce paper use by up to 49%* on each ticket. This percentage directly translates into significant savings for companies. This functionality, available on a wide range of Epson POS printer models*, is easily activated through intuitive configurations from the printers themselves.

How does Epson do it?

Through advanced technology, specially designed to maximize business efficiency, which incorporates the following functions:

  • Reduction of top and bottom margins- Minimizes empty space at the beginning and end of receipts.
  • Reduction of white lines- Detects and removes unnecessary blank areas between receipt sections.
  • Reduced space between lines: Subtly decreases the spacing between each line of text.
  • Character height reduction– Modifies the font slightly to take up less space without sacrificing readability.
  • Barcode height reduction- Intelligently reduces the height of the barcode ensuring it can still be scanned correctly.

Benefits that go beyond paper:

  • Economic savings: By significantly reducing the consumption of receipt rolls, companies reduce their input costs, freeing up budget that can be reinvested in other critical areas of the business. This operational efficiency becomes a key competitive advantage.
  • Optimization of time and productivity- Minimizing the need to change paper rolls as frequently reduces disruption at the point of sale. This allows staff to spend more time on what really matters: delivering exceptional, seamless customer service, improving the overall experience for both the business and its consumers.
  • Environmental benefits: By reducing paper consumption, companies not only reduce their waste, but also contribute to an operation with environmental benefits.

Tool to estimate paper savings

In this sense, Epson has developed a paper savings estimation tool that allows companies to explore different optimization alternatives for their point-of-sale (POS) printing. This interactive solution makes it easy to calculate how much paper and money you could save using Epson's Advanced Paper Saver feature, while providing customization options for business receipts. With this tool, businesses can quickly and easily visualize the potential savings offered by Epson POS printers.
