This program started in 2019 under the name “Galaxy Forever”. Since 2021, it began to be called the Samsung Exchange Plan and breaks acceptance records among users, who can receive up to 45% discount on the purchase of a new smartphone or tablet by handing over your used device as part of the payment.
Less than a month ago, the new Galaxy S23 family was launched worldwide and, that same day, it could already be obtained in any physical and online Samsung store in Argentina. One of the facilities that Samsung provided to achieve this, in addition to the installments as a form of financing, was the Samsung Exchange Plan.
This program, created in 2019 under the name Galaxy Forever and renamed in 2021 as the Samsung Trade-in Plan, allows users who wish to buy a new Samsung smartphone or tablet to hand in their used devices and save up to 45% off the final purchase price. The discount varies depending on the new model to be purchased, the used one delivered and the condition in which the latter is found. Another objective of the Samsung Exchange Plan is to extend the life cycle of the products and give a second chance to used equipment that, once reconditioned, returns to the market. In this sense, the company aims to generate concrete actions in favor of the environment and sustainability. In addition, it contributes to reducing the environmental footprint by minimizing the use of raw materials and reducing the generation of electronic waste.
The program is available for Samsung smartphones and tablets. One of the latest changes that were introduced is that in physical stores and in the Samsung online store it is possible to deliver up to two devices in part payment. Additionally, a user who makes an online exchange through the Samsung website can choose to deliver their equipment to their own store or to a branch of the logistics operator.
So far, Samsung has re-entered more than 200 thousand devices on the market. The used devices that come in are mostly reconditioned and sold through specialist dealers, or used as spare parts for repairs.
With the launch of the Galaxy S23 line, 40% of sales were made through this program. While, during the year, 20% of Series S sales are generated through this plan.
How to use it?
The Samsung Redemption Plan can be made for online or physical purchases in official Samsung stores and in selected retailers such as Claro, Personal, Movistar, Frávega (it can also be purchased from its official website), TecnoCompro, Riiing and Musimundo
In the case of a physical store it is very simple. You just have to go to a Samsung store with the used device(s) to deliver in part payment and an advisor will analyze and quote on the spot. The discount is immediate at the time of purchase. Advice is also offered on backing up personal data with Smartswitch.
When the purchase is made online, you must follow the following steps:
- Choose the product to buy in the Samsung online store.
- Select the “Samsung Exchange Plan” option and choose the category of the first product used (tablet or smartphone).
- Rate the condition of the used equipment (screen, power or case) through a brief survey.
- Repeat the process by selecting the category of the second used product if you wish or continue with the purchase.
- Know the estimated quote.
- Complete the purchase of new equipment.
- Receive the new equipment and wait for a call from a representative to validate the status of the used devices and consequently confirm the exchange quote.
- Retirement of used equipment and crediting of the bonus.
- If the status matches what was declared, the person will receive the bonus in the payment method used in the purchase, between 10 and 15 days later. If the condition is not as expected, the benefit amount will be lower.
