Payment for services with virtual wallets and online channels grew by 61.9%
According to a recent survey, 61.9% of Argentines pay their utility bills through digital payment methods, such as virtual wallets and other online platforms.

The data comes from a survey carried out in June of this year. In the same survey in 2019, only 33.7% responded that they used these means, while in 2020, 48.4% said they used them.

This shows a significant increase compared to the same survey carried out in June 2019, when only 33.7% had responded that they used virtual wallets and online channels to pay for services; and also regarding another in June 2020, when 48.4% answered affirmatively to the same question.
“Although some cultural patterns associated with the use of cash still remain dominant in certain areas of daily life, the growth that digital media has had when paying, selling and managing everyday finances has been phenomenal,” said Juan Pablo Bruzzo, CEO of MONI, the company in charge of the data from the online survey of more than 2,400 clients.
According to the survey, The most chosen option for paying for services was with “online platforms” (61.9%), followed by “automatic debit” (23%), payment at “payment service locations” (12.7%), payment by “ATM” (1.3%) and, lastly, payment at a “bank teller” (0.2%).
The sustained growth of this payment method over time marks a change in trend in user preference, taking into account that in the June 2019 measurement, the option most chosen (40.3%) by Argentines was to pay their bills in physical locations of the payment networks.
The results are the product of the latest survey carried out by MONI, between June 1 and 31, 2023, among 2,425 clients who used the financial services of its platform during the previous 12 months.
MONI is a digital financial services company through a virtual wallet, in which it exceeded two million transactions with consumer credit for an amount greater than US$ 300 million, in addition to incorporating money advances, payments with interoperable QR - with its own balance or financed -, International Mastercard card, payment of services and SUBE and cell phone recharges.
