Technology shows signs of reactivation global level and looks to 2025 with marked optimism

There are encouraging data in the tablets and also PCs and laptops. In the case of tablets, it is because the comparison With a weak 2023, it forces us to have a positive outlook, but, in general, everyone foresees a cycle of better technological renewal.

Por Rodolfo Pollini

DHand in hand with the need to update, technological devices face one of their key moments at the beginning of the year, with the beginning of the educational cycles. The range of demand is wide, and requires diversifying and segmenting the offer based on a number of factors. What is the best jump from a tablet to a notebook for an elementary student about to enter secondary school? Is offering a notebook to an Economics student the same as offering it to a Design student? At the same time, from the industry, new technologies, such as the cloud and artificial intelligence, impact the field of education and transform it. Referring to products, we can think of a better market for tablets, which in the third quarter of 2024 saw global shipments grow by 20.4%, reaching 39.6 million units according to International Data Corporation (IDC). Although these figures must be understood taking into account an uninspiring 2023 market, analysts are optimistic about the growth of the industry. On the PC side, the outlook is also promising. According to Canalys data, 2024 already saw this market on the path to recovery and with a commercial renewal cycle in 2025 after a fifth consecutive quarter of growth in the fourth quarter of 2024, with total shipments of desktop computers, laptops and workstations increasing by 4.6%, to 67.4 million units. Laptop shipments reached 53.7 million units, growing 6.2%, while desktop computer shipments (including desktop workstations) fell 1.4% to 13.7 million units. 2025 is expected to be a year of accelerated growth, as the October end-of-support deadline for Windows 10 pushes hundreds of millions of PC users to upgrade their devices.
