Argentina updates the Energy Efficiency Label: what changes and what you need to know

With a new classification scheme, the system seeks to provide clearer and more comparable information. Samsung accompanies this update with solutions designed for more efficient energy consumption.

Argentina launched a update of the Energy Efficiency Labeling System for household appliances. The new scheme modifies the way products are classified, but does not change their real energy consumption or its impact on the electricity bill. The goal is to provide clearer and more comparable information, so that consumers can better understand new technologies and make more informed purchasing decisions.

The main novelty is the adoption of a unified scale from A to G, which replaces the old “Plus” categories (A+, A++ and A+++). This update does not imply lower product performance or higher energy consumption, but rather a redefinition of the scale to more accurately reflect the efficiency of current technologies. In simple terms, a computer continues consuming the same as before: the only thing that changes is the letter with which that consumption is reported.

More information to choose better

The new label expands its informative role and consolidates itself as a comprehensive consultation tool. Among its innovations, it includes a QR Code, which allows immediate access to the complete technical sheet of the product, and a central visual band that details the real energy consumption (by year, hour or cycle, depending on the product), facilitating simple and direct comparisons between different models. In addition, for the first time, criteria such as repairability, recyclability, maintenance and final disposal are considered, promoting more conscious and sustainable purchasing decisions.

What does each letter represent in real consumption?

In the new energy efficiency label, category A represents the highest possible level of efficiency. In the case of washing appliances, for example, the differences between letters reflect relevant increases in energy consumption: a product classified as B can consume on average 20% more than one A, while one C can reach up to 39% more, and so on as the category descends. These comparisons are always made taking product A as a reference and the values are estimates, since each letter contemplates a possible consumption range according to current regulations.

In this context, Samsung accompanies the update of the labeling system with a wide range of products developed with a focus on energy efficiency. Through technologies applied in multiple categories, the company makes available solutions aligned with the new demands of the market and the labeling system, promoting a more responsible use of energy throughout the useful life of the products.

Control and save with SmartThings

In addition to the new efficiency label, many Samsung products can connect to the SmartThings app, which allows you to monitor and manage energy consumption from your cell phone. With features like AI Energy Mode, it is possible to automatically optimize the use of household appliances and achieve estimated additional savings of between 10% and 15%, depending on the category and product. In this way, the efficiency reported on the label translates into concrete savings on the electricity bill.

This functionality is compatible with several product categories in the Samsung ecosystem, such as refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners and televisions that integrate SmartThings.
