In a context marked by the health emergency, the company developed solutions based on the fundamental aspects of Indoor Air Quality, which guarantee clean, safe and efficient environments.

Indoor Air Quality or IAQ is a term that refers to the quality of the air in and around buildings and structures, especially as it relates to the health and comfort of their occupants. BGH Eco Smart, the business unit of the BGH Group linked to energy efficiency & smartbuilding solutions for companies, governments and people, presented its portfolio of products and solutions based on this concept, which guarantee healthier environments and reduce airborne exposure to viruses and bacteria.

"As a consequence of the global health crisis caused by COVID-19, many of the social, cultural and health concepts and norms changed, giving rise to the already known "new normal". Among them, indoor air quality, which takes on a special role in relation to the air conditioning, heating and ventilation systems of buildings, homes and different spaces," mentioned Martín Mendez Decoud, Product Manager of BGH Eco Smart.
Understanding this reality and accompanying this new concept and need, BGH Eco Smart developed solutions based on four fundamental IAQ aspects: eliminate (remove biological contaminants in environments and surfaces); ventilate (reduce the concentration of pollutants to contribute to air renewal); clean (filter particles for removal); and monitor (control the quality of circulating air, verify the body temperature of building occupants, obtain data to guarantee the operation of the IAQ system used). All of them are complementary for the transformation of environments into clean, safe and efficient environments.

Eliminate
These are products that use thermal inactivation technology for viruses and bacteria.
Among them we can mention: Ultraviolet light lamps (UVc)* that destroy the genetic material of the virus, preventing its replication and Vertical heaters for virus inactivation and disinfection of surfaces.

*According to ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers), the entire ultraviolet (UV) spectrum can kill or inactivate microorganisms, but UV-C energy (at wavelengths 200 to 280 nm) provides the most germicidal effect, with 265 nm being the optimal wavelength.

opValves
There is the option of incorporating extraction fans in rooftop-type units to contribute to air renewal and dissolution of the concentration of contaminants.

Clean
Solutions available with both portable equipment (plug & play) and accessory equipment to incorporate into a new or existing installation in large areas, such as supermarkets, restaurants, bars, factories, offices, universities and public organizations, allowing you to continue developing your activities.

In portable equipment, the proposal is for air purifiers of German origin that are 100% environmentally friendly, as they do not use chemical products and do not require installation.
They are perfectly usable in bars, restaurants, gyms or offices, where they are placed only in the space that is necessary, generating safe areas with filtered and virus-free air, sized according to the number of people and the established air change rate.

In supermarkets, it protects customers and employees in checkout areas, fresh food counters, promotional areas or aisle areas. The clouds of droplets and aerosols produced by coughing, sneezing, etc. They filter faster due to the high air exchange rate. The area of action is permanently blown with large amounts of virus-free air, which considerably reduces the risk of infection in high-traffic areas.

According to ASHRAE, based on risk assessments, the application of specific HVAC strategies, including MERV (Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value) Enhanced Filtration, should be considered.
on minimum requirements in spaces
high risk and/or dense occupation.

Monitor
Here we talk about hardware and software to guarantee the desired indoor air quality and the detection of possible sources of infection to take preventive actions.
On the one hand, there are thermal imaging cameras capable of monitoring 20 people at the same time with a temperature precision of less than 0.3.
degrees, storing statistics and alarms in the cloud.

On the other hand, we have dirty CO2 sensors and filters. These activate air renewal and maintenance alarms to guarantee air quality parameters.

According to ASHRAE, airborne transmission of SARS-CoV-2 (the coronavirus that causes COVID-19) is likely enough that airborne exposure to the virus must be controlled, and indoor air quality respected. Changes in the operation of buildings, homes, and other surfaces, including HVAC systems and facilities, can reduce airborne exposures.

In this framework, by carrying out a prior survey of the existing infrastructure, BGH Eco Smart can professionally apply customized solutions that transform environments into clean, safe and efficient environments.
