Although there was no confirmation or comment from Apple, the Nikkei Asia portal reported on Wednesday, July 21, that all iPhones launched next year will be compatible with 5G, and this includes the first renewal that the company will make in two years of its economical smartphone, with the aim of boosting sales of a product that accounts for more than half of its income.

This would mean that in 2022 the apple company will not launch 4G models and will begin selling a cheaper version of its phone, the iPhone SE, compatible with the next-generation communication standard. I wouldn't upgrade the iPhone Mini either.

The affordable iPhone 5G would hit the market during the first half of 2022 and would be a renewed version of the iPhone 8, with a 4.7-inch LCD screen. The iPhone SE introduced in 2016 boosted Apple's sales due to its relatively low price. According to Nikkei, the version launched in April 2020 started at $399, when the iPhone 12 Mini, the most affordable in the premium range, cost $699.
