Samsung Electronics Co. unveiled the 2019 QLED TV lineup and showcased its latest technological innovations to the Latin American press May 30-31 at its annual Technical Summit. The QLED 8K TVs, winners of the CES 2019 Innovation Award, are equipped with Samsung's Quantum processor, AI-powered image processing semiconductor technology. Samsung's Quantum processor automatically upscales lower resolution content from any source by adapting it to the 8K video format. The Quantum processor will also be available in Samsung's QLED 4K models, allowing the entire lineup to offer AI-enhanced picture quality and sound.

In an industry first, Samsung's machine learning Quantum processor uses AI technology to analyze millions of images allowing it to calibrate low-resolution sources to optimize those images into 8K quality content, regardless of the original format. Samsung's AI conversion of 8K image quality offers precision and efficiency, and formalizes the method autonomously. These improvements in picture quality are evident on larger screen TVs, where higher resolutions and sharpness can be adequately displayed.

Additional Smart TV features reflected in this year's QLED TV lineup include a new Apple TV app and Apple AirPlay 2. Through full integration into Samsung's Smart TV platform, users can simply select the Apple TV app icon to access all iTunes movies and TV show purchases. With AirPlay 2-enabled Samsung Smart TVs, customers can also easily play videos and other content from their iPhone, iPad or Mac directly to their TV.

In addition to Smart TV features, we have Ambient mode, so the TV can adapt to your home and become part of your decoration. The TV will look like a beautiful glass frame, integrated into the wall or even with its own images. No more cable clutter in your living room: the One Invisible connection brings all your cables together and your TV is integrated into a neat design.

TVs come with a single remote control, so you don't need to use multiple controls like the set-top box, Blu-ray, or game controllers. You can control everything.

Samsung's 2019 QLED TVs also feature improved Ultra Viewing Angle technology, which allows backlight to pass to the screen more evenly across the device's panels. This is due to an improved panel structure and new screen calibration algorithms that improve the TV's viewing angles while preventing reflections or flare, even during the day or in brightly lit rooms.

Along with several image quality improvements in 2019, adoption of Direct Full Array models has nearly doubled over last year. Direct Full Array technology places backlight LEDs behind the panel for precise brightness control and allowing the light to be individually adjusted, producing deeper blacks. Algorithms that recognize and adjust black colors more precisely analyze the characteristics of each scene, in real time, to distribute brightness and black proportions to control backlighting. Ultimately, this allows the new QLED TV line to offer excellent black color reproduction.
