Tablets: they are renewed and fight within the mobile segment

They are a business that focuses on 7/8 and 10-inch models, with a consumer that demands increasingly greater memory capacity. Their natural predator is not the notebook but the cell phone, but they resist and, although with a lower market volume, they are renewed.

Tablets continue to be a valid option for mobility, although with a market that has been changing. In volume, or units sold, the business was reduced, but at the same time it was segmented at the pace of demand, which leans towards 7-inch models, largely for the youngest, and 10-inch models for adults, who already demand devices with no less than 32GB of memory.

THE VISION OF THE MARKET

How do you see the tablet market today?
The market reduced in volume, in many cases it migrated towards cell phones and in recent months interest in the 8GB Chinese tablet has been reducing, which at the time was a boom until larger smartphones appeared, similar to a 7" tablet. This migration was accompanied by kids, who increasingly demand more applications and better graphics. We see a market with great potential that goes to a minimum of 8" with 32GB of memory.

When did you see the change take place?
During the pandemic, the tablet began to be used much more than before, there was a great demand but that process also marked the end of the 7 and 8-inch tablets, which the kids no longer wanted because they were saturated with the first little game. The same thing happens with the 10" ones, which now go to 32GB because the 16GB is exhausted with two applications, one game, and not to mention if you also have WhatsApp web. Today memory is more important than the camera. The 7" tablet is still in demand, because parents don't want to give them a cell phone for kids under 10 years old.

Where did the demand migrate to?
We do not believe that it was towards notebooks or cloudebooks, but towards the cell phone. We had demand from hotels and restaurants that use them to take orders, but the volume was reduced and is in what is sold in retail and in the online channel.
