Cameras, the protagonists of the most technological World Cup of all time
Whether for those who attend the stadiums in person or for the millions who will follow the event from TV and networks, thanks to the development that AI has had in recent years, the cameras will allow access to rarely seen details: the performance of the players, 360° resolution of the stadium, analysis of the plays, 3D vision of the match, among others.

A few days before the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, technology appears as one of the greatest innovations that will be available to perform countless tasks, such as detecting offside, illegal positions, ball movements, exact location and actions of the players and many more. In this aspect, video surveillance cameras play a primary role in carrying out each of these operations and providing fans and players with a unique experience, today known as the most technological World Cup of all time, until now.
Although the use of video capture systems in Argentine soccer has been present since the first broadcast, much has changed since then. These systems improve every day to allow for sharper images at different distances from the video lenses, as well as the ability to operate in different lighting conditions, but the biggest leap came in conjunction with Artificial Intelligence (AI).
"Today, within the field of play, new video systems allow 3D visualization, this is achieved by using up to 40 or more video capture cameras located around the stadium to capture images that are reconstructed into stereoscopic 3D views of the action that are then added to the live broadcast. Likewise outside the field of play, AI tools allow controlling the capacity of stadiums, avoiding crowd congestion and monitoring spectator behavior and identifying patterns of behavior.” explained Marcos Romero, SMB Sales at Dahua Technology, one of the world's leading manufacturers of these technologies.
Currently, having this technology - although it may seem easy to execute - implies a great challenge. From having video cameras that allow you to obtain millisecond scenes of a play, high resolution that generates clearer and sharper images that guarantee the opportunity to work with them without losing information, captures of up to 60 photographs per second with different resolutions, and even products that manage to provide a 180° and 360° vision with the ability to recognize a person from more than 1,000 meters away. All this with the aim of capturing all the details of a play, as well as stadium supervision and player tracking.
It is clear then that video surveillance systems based on high-definition technology and in conjunction with AI, allow us to obtain information that would be impossible to obtain in a traditional way. Which subsequently makes it possible to obtain analysis of matches, player behavior, interaction, sports performance, and even stress levels without affecting or compromising the performance of the athletes.
"Clearly the application of these technologies has positively influenced the game in general, as well as being able to see the evolution of the players until understanding how to improve in everything related to the show. For us and we hope also for the fans, video capture systems are the perfect amalgam to combine the different information collection technologies, since they allow you to see and identify the action in its entirety and can be enriched with information from a GPS system for example, or sensors that are located on the players" they added from Dahua Technology.
Without a doubt, new video capture system technologies give the fan the opportunity to be there and live all the moments and instances of the game despite being thousands of kilometers from where the action takes place and fully immerse themselves in the sporting experience. Furthermore, the use of the same technologies in terms of security makes the fan feel safe attending a massive event, thus contributing to carrying out a show that is a joy for everyone and with complete information that would not be possible without video surveillance cameras.
