The agreement between the Ministry of Productive Development and the Association of Argentine Electronics Terminal Factories (Afarte) to freeze until the end of October the prices in force to April 1 of televisions, cell phones, microwave and air conditioners, opened an expectation towards the possible reincorporation of cell phones to the financing plan now 12.
If achieved, it would be allowed to finance phones whose sale price to the public does not exceed 50,000 pesos, that is, low -end devices and, in part, of mid -range. It remains to be defined how the cost of sustaining this financing plan for cell phones, which was surely the reason for its interruption last year, would be faced, because now 12 it only reaches the phones with a price to the public of up to 50,000 pesos, it is still talking about a mass business, so much so that according to the consultant Carrier and associated last year, even with the fall that meant the impact of the pandemic, 6.5 million phones were sold Mostly reached by this reactivation of now 12, it represented 82% of the total. Anyway, the first stage of this agreement does not contemplate the financing of cell phones, which would be done later and "to the extent that the circumstances allow it", as officially expressed.
The agreement between the Ministry of Productive Development and Afarte contemplates monthly reviews from June for the possibility of modification of variables such as the exchange rate, because it involves manufacturing products in Tierra del Fuego but with a component of imported inputs that are paid in dollars.
