LG was highlighted by international organizations for its continuous commitment to the environment. The series models feature lighter weight and greater durability.

LG Electronics (LG) recently announced that its OLED evo 2023 series TVs have earned Reducing CO21 and Measured CO22 certifications from the Carbon Trust3 and environmental labels from Société Générale de Surveillance SA (SGS) for the third consecutive year. These recognitions highlight LG's continued ESG efforts to reduce plastic waste.

The LG OLED evo series models feature lighter weight and greater durability, thanks to the application of fiber and metal composite materials. These materials help reduce the use of plastic: LG OLED evo series TVs only need 40% of the plastic used in LCD TVs of the same screen size. Through all these efforts, LG has reduced its plastic consumption by 20,000 tons this year.

In addition, due to the composite fiber material, some models of the latest OLED evo series are 20% lighter than an LCD TV of the same screen size, which also contributes to reducing CO2 emissions during transport.

On the other hand, the back cover of the LG OLED evo models, QNED TVs and NanoCell TVs that will go on sale this year are completed with recycled plastic material that uses more than 30% of the plastic used. With these efforts, the company hopes to achieve a plastic waste recycling effect of 3,200 tons per year in TV products alone.
LG OLED TVs are made with fewer components than conventional LCD TVs. The smaller number of parts required for each LG OLED product is the result of the TVs' unique self-illuminating display technology, which eliminates the need for a separate backlight structure. Reducing the number of parts also means fewer resources are used per unit, as well as less plastic and electronic waste at the end of the TV's life.

“The LG OLED evo series is designed to ensure that viewers can enjoy an immersive viewing experience while reducing the impact at all stages of the product for a greener and healthier environment,” said Baik Sun-pil, Director of Product Development Division at LG Home Entertainment Company. “LG will continue to pursue a wide range of ESG initiatives and responsible practices, as a strong leader in the OLED TV market.”
