The pessimistic vision about the role of business as a leader of society arises from a survey by the IAE Business School.

76% of the businessmen surveyed on the occasion of the IAE Alumni Day consider that the Argentine business class is not up to the competitive challenge and social leadership that the country needs.
Regarding the future of Argentina, 43% of the people who responded to the survey consider that the country will be worse in the next year, while 37% consider that the situation will be the same and 20% believe that it will be better in the next twelve months.

Regarding which public policies represent a key stimulus for the start of Alberto Fernández's government, 55% believe that they will give greater importance to consumption, compared to 24% who indicated investment and 21% who indicated exports.

Asked about the price scenario for 2020-2021, 57% believe that inflation will range between 30 and 50%, while 31% indicated that they estimate it will be between 50 and 70%, and only 7% foresee a hyperinflationary scenario.
In relation to what is the key reform that Alberto Fernández's government should promote, 59% consider that it is the tax reform, compared to 33% who believe it should be the labor reform and 8% who pointed to the pension reform.
However, 87% of those surveyed stated that a labor reform is necessary to reduce labor informality and increase employment, compared to 10% who considered that it is not necessary.

Eduardo Fracchia, director of Economics at the IAE Business School, reflected in this regard that the perception is of a difficult year, as indicated by other opinion surveys. “Expected inflation is lower than in 2019, but is still forecast to be high for the next biennium,” he observes.

He also highlights that “there is a pessimistic vision about the role of the business community in its role as leader of society.” In another order, he points out that “tax reform is seen as very necessary, a classic comment in current discussions between businessmen.” And the same thing happens with labor reform. “It is a business cry to normalize the labor market and generate employment,” warns the specialist.

To conclude, he states that, “in line with the tradition of Kirchnerism, it is assumed that Alberto Fernández will give priority to consumption.”
