The Mirgor Group announced the incorporation of 60 workers for one of its plants located in the city of Rio Grande, after confirmation on the extension of the Industrial Sub session of Tierra del Fuego until 2038, carried out on Monday by the Minister of Productive Development, Matías Kulfas, the official agency Télam reported.

In an act headed by President Alberto Fernández and in which Governor Fueguino, Gustavo Melella participated, Kulfas confirmed on the eve that the tax benefits for the island's promoted industry will continue for 15 years after the expiration of the regime provided in 2023, with an option to another extension for the same period.

In addition, a fund for the development of the Fuegian productive matrix will be created that will contribute the companies benefited by the current special tax regime, and which will be used to develop other productive activities such as the knowledge industry.

A few hours after the advertisements, the Mirgor Group, dedicated to the manufacture of auto parts and electronic products, reported the incorporation of 60 operators for its IATEC plant in Rio Grande.

The company mentioned in a statement that 47 of these workers will enter under the contractual modality PPD (permanent discontinuous personnel) and 13 will do it “fixed term”; In all cases, with affiliation to the Metallurgical Workers Union (UOM).

"This action is part of the fulfillment of the commitment assumed with the guild of effectiveness under the PPD hiring modality to 330 operators, and in the efforts to be able to provide all its collaborators with a horizon of greater certainties despite the difficult context that the sector is going through," Mirgor said in a press part.

He also said it is a commitment of the company "defend and continue betting on the Fueguina industry and its workers."

Mirgor has five production plants of more than 60,000 square meters of surface dedicated to “the manufacture and assembly of items for the automotive industry, mobile telephony and consumer electronics,” according to the company's own website.

For its part, an official report from the Ministry of Production and Environment of Tierra del Fuego reveals that during the second quarter of this year, the industrial sector used, on average, 10,938 workers.

From that figure, 8438 correspond to the electronic industry, 695 to the plastic, 639 to the textile, 495 to the fishing, 288 to the preparationist and 393 to other activities.

In percentage terms, the level of occupation in factories records an interannual growth of 37% in the electronic industry, and 28% considering the rest of the items.

Between April and June 2021, Fueguinas companies manufactured 2,535,723 cell phones, 786,133 televisions and 444,852 white -line devices (such as microwaves and air conditioners). This implies an annual increase of 265% in the production of cell phones, of 162% in that of televisions and of 510% in white line, says the report of the Fuegian government.

It also mentions an annual increase of 205% in the production of auto parts and 273% in the production of “sheets and covers”, all values that show important recovery signs compared to a year very influenced by the restrictions derived from the coronavirus pandemic.
