Samsung Argentina celebrated the closing of the 12th edition of its Solve For Tomorrow educational program, with the announcement of the winning team in an in-person event at the Sheraton Hotel that brought together the five most outstanding proposals of the year. This was the first time that the program was carried out exclusively with Argentine teams, with a truly federal approach: all the finalists came from the interior of the country and the projects emerged from communities in the interior, highlighting the local commitment to social change.

Present at the event were Lucas Shin, president of Samsung Argentina, Alfredo Vota, Undersecretary of Educational Policies and Innovation of the Nation, Santiago Pordelanne, Undersecretary of Knowledge Economy of the Nation, Erika Pamela Solorzano, coordinator of marketing and corporate alliances of UNICEF, and Tomás Santiago Cadelago, Director of Human Resources of Samsung Argentina.

In the final event, many of the students traveled to Buenos Aires for the first time to present their projects before a multidisciplinary jury, made up of Gerardo Presman, Senior Business Director of Samsung Consumer Electronics, Alejandro Germe, Director of the Diploma in Biobusiness at the National University of San Martín (UNSAM), Federico Wiemeyer, journalist specialized in technology, Andrea Renzo, content creator and founder of Tecno.Lógicas y Julieta Schulkin, Argentine journalist and author specialized in technology and digital culture.

But first, on Tuesday the 25th, the finalists accessed intensive training to strengthen their projects and prepare the final pitch during the Bootcamp instance along with an inspiring day at Samsung's Samsung Experience Store in Unicenter, where they worked alongside company mentors and shared experiences and knowledge.

Projects with real impact

The finalist ideas reflected deeply rooted local issues. Among them, Solar Pack, this year's winning project, sought to resolve the almost total lack of electricity in a community where families are left “in the dark” at night. Another aimed to optimize the use of the school uniform, considering the need of those who have only one copy and do not manage to wash and dry it, generating ugly smells of humidity or smoke (Smart Tent).

Awards

  • Winning team and second place: a Galaxy S24 FE cell phone for the teacher and each member.
  • Finalists: Galaxy Buds3 FE headphones for the teacher and each team member.

In addition, Samsung gave special recognition to the teachers who accompanied each finalist team: they received diplomas and heard words of gratitude from Laura Lenzi, head of Corporate Citizenship at Samsung Argentina.

Lucas Shin, President of Samsung Argentina, He told the finalists: "I want to congratulate each of the teams that came here from different parts of the country. This is not just an event or a competition, it is the result of months of work, effort, creativity and commitment. Each idea they presented represents a dream, a concern, a way of looking at the world and thinking about how to make it a little better. At Samsung, we work in education because we deeply believe in you: in your voice, in your ability to transform your environment and in the positive impact you can generate with technology and purposeful ideas. I want to tell you something very important: Don't be left alone with this event. Value the path you have traveled, the learning, the people you met and everything that brought you to this moment.”

Alfredo Vota Undersecretary of Educational Policies and Innovation of the Nation, added: "I want to thank Samsung for the commitment to education because not all companies do it. Think about the students in a line that seems interesting to us from the Ministry of Human Capital, which is what we think has to happen in this alliance between education and work. Sometimes schools look at themselves and do not look at the world and what they prepare the children for and companies look at themselves hoping that the resources are suitable for work and not accompanying the educational process. In that alliance is where what must happen must happen. is happening today, which is thinking about education in pursuit of the work that is to come”

Santiago Pordelanne, Undersecretary of Knowledge Economy of the Nation, held: "The potential we have as a country is enormous. And the potential we have as a country is based on generations like you, who have thought and worked a lot with creative ideas to be among the five finalists. Training and education is central to this industry and I want to recognize and thank all your teachers, who have worked with you, guiding you in this process. They inspire you to give your best and work as a team."

For its part, Erika Pamela Solorzano, marketing and corporate partnerships coordinator at UNICEF, he reflected: "I was thinking about these projects where the focus is on telling others an idea or a perspective and a feeling regarding certain problems that they have encountered in their paths and that they have specifically chosen to develop these projects. That sense of participation, of raising one's voice in something that we believe in, that spirit is what we promote and share from UNICEF"

Tomás Cadelago, Director of Human Resources at Samsung Argentina, express: "Each edition of Solve For Tomorrow confirms to us that young talent is throughout the country and that, when given the opportunity, students can transform their concerns into real solutions. Seeing them grow throughout the program, discover their capabilities and present projects with such conviction is one of the most valuable aspects for us. Accompanying that process and being part of the beginning of many vocations is a huge source of pride for Samsung."

"This edition of Solve For Tomorrow forcefully showed the value of listening to communities. The projects were born from the specific needs of each territory and reflect the creativity with which students seek to improve their environment. That this was a completely Argentine and deeply federal edition demonstrates that social innovation can emerge from any point in the country when we create spaces for those voices to be expressed.", he concluded Laura Lenzi, Head of Corporate Citizenship at Samsung Argentina.

Impact and relevance of the program

Since its launch in Argentina in 2014, Solve For Tomorrow has been a pillar of Samsung's corporate citizenship strategy, promoting the use of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) tools to address real challenges. In this 12th edition, the program deepened its federal reach, with the participation of more than 3,000 students, 475 teachers and 751 teams from 18 provinces.

The spirit of the edition was captured in the commitment of the participants: projects arising from communities in a context of vulnerability and distance from urban centers, developed by students seeking a change in the world around them.
