Kingston Technology Company announced the launch of the encrypted USB drive, IronKey Vault Privacy 50 (VP50) with FIPS 197 certification and 256-bit AES hardware encryption in XTS mode with physical user control. Supports administrator, user, and one-time recovery passwords with complex or passphrase mode. Traditional complex mode allows passwords of 6 to 16 characters using 3 of the 4 character sets, passphrase mode allows having a numeric PIN, phrase, word list or even song lyrics 10 to 64 characters long.
The administrator can enable a user password and a recovery password or reset the user password to restore access to the data. Protects against brute force attacks by locking user or one-time recovery passwords on 10 consecutive invalid attempts and wipes the drive if the administrator password is entered incorrectly 10 times in a row.
VP50 can also protect against potential malware on untrusted systems and features a virtual keyboard that protects passwords from keyloggers or screenloggers.
It comes with capacities from 8GB to 256GB and a five-year limited warranty.
