Under the Evolving Appliances For You concept, LG seeks to ensure that devices adapt to the user's needs.

LG Electronics presents its new concept for the use of home appliances and proposes upgradeable devices that have the ability to incorporate new features developed in the future. Thus, LG appliances will be able to adapt to the changing lifestyles of users.

This tool provides the ability to add a new feature or convenience to an existing device through new software, new hardware, or both. For example, users can improve the performance of the LG PuriCare air purifier when a new pet joins the family by upgrading it with the Pet Care filter.^.

For the customer, upgradability allows the LG device to keep up with changing trends and usage patterns throughout its lifespan, extending its lifespan many times over. In total, LG plans to introduce approximately 20 upgradable devices this year and by the end of 2022, it will introduce the first upgradable washer and dryer.

“Upgradability challenges the idea that expensive home appliances are designed with planned obsolescence in mind,” said Lyu Jae-cheol, president of LG Electronics Home Appliance & Air Solution Company. “We want customers to experience the feeling of getting a new washing machine or refrigerator throughout the life cycle of an LG appliance, not just the first time they bring the item home.”
