This 2022, according to TechTarget, 53% of companies in Latin America will increase the budget for their IT area, while 42% will keep it the same, data that shows the interest that persists in relying on innovative tools that will inevitably become a trend.
"These trends, which will have their applications in various areas, such as automotive, health, manufacturing, the public sector and even the aerospace industry, will generate strong implications in our lives, because they will revolutionize the ways of working, health care centers and digital experiences, among other aspects. While companies will improve their speed and agility, in addition to reducing complexity and saving costs, which makes them already indispensable technologies," explains Adrián Lasso, Vice President & Chief Innovation Officer of Baufest.
1.- Automation and virtualization of processes
With the aim of streamlining routine tasks, improving operational efficiency and accelerating time to market, along with process automation and virtualization, they will advance to the next level by combining robotics, the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), digital twins and 3D or 4D printing.
In such a way that, by 2022, there will be 600 thousand installations of industrial robots and 70% of manufacturers will use digital twins regularly, according to estimates by the international consulting firm McKinsey.
2- 5G network and Internet of Things (IoT)
The transformation of telecommunications advances this year with the fifth generation wireless network, which will allow faster connectivity over longer distances, with exponentially faster downloads and almost non-existent latency.
Therefore, the IoT and the 5G network will support the creation of new services and business models linked to smart products enabled by sensors; It will generate new offers to the value chain and will allow us to offer better experiences to customers.
3- Distributed infrastructures
In order for companies to move computing power further towards the perimeter of their networks, they will have to resort to the union of Cloud computing with Edge Computing, which will allow them to reach devices that handle a large amount of data with much lower latency, in a greater number of remote locations and thus accelerate decision making with advanced analysis.
4- Quantum and neuromorphic computing
The union of these technologies, under a new model, will help reduce the development time of chemical and pharmaceutical products with simulations; In addition, it will be key to accelerating the development of autonomous vehicles with quantum Artificial Intelligence (AI), and in the transformation of cybersecurity.
5- Applied Artificial Intelligence
This megatrend, which refers to the implementation of algorithms to train machines (to recognize patterns, interpret and act on them), promises to improve customer satisfaction through new interfaces and interaction methods; It is therefore not surprising that it is estimated that, by 2024, more than 50% of user interactions will be complemented by vision algorithms powered by AI.
6- Metaverso
The metaverse concept will gain greater strength, after Meta (Mark Zuckerberg) announced an investment of 10 billion dollars in the next year alone. In fact, there are already those who anticipate that it will have an impact on society as great as the Internet.
7- Trusted architectures
Through a set of technologies and approaches designed for a world of cyberattacks, companies will seek to create architectures that allow verifying the reliability of devices as data flows through networks, APIs and applications. In turn, they could include distributed ledger technologies (DLT), including blockchain, and “zero trust security” approaches to prevent data breaches.
8- Bio revolution
The confluence of advances in biological science combined with the accelerated development of computing, process automation and AI is called the bio revolution and implies an expansion of human understanding of biological processes at the intracellular level and an increasing ability to design molecules and pathways. Its main impacts will be felt in the health sector, but also in agriculture, energy, consumer goods and materials.
9- New generation materials
Graphene and 2-D materials; molybdenum disulfide nanoparticles; Nanomaterials and other smarter, more sensitive and lighter materials that enable new functionality and optimal performance will gain increasing momentum to improve the pharmaceutical, energy, transportation, healthcare, semiconductor and manufacturing industries.
10- Clean technologies
Derived from the growing awareness of caring for the environment, new solutions that address the growing need for more sustainable energy generation are gaining greater ground with an advance that promises an abundant supply of green energy to sustain exponential technological growth, for example, in high-power computing.
“Today, organizations, both in the public and private sectors, must look back and join these new trends that, without a doubt, will be key to improving employee experiences, digitizing the touch points of consumers and partners, and to develop product experiences, among many more applications,” concludes Adrián Lasso, Vice President & Chief Innovation Officer of Baufest about these technologies that promise to revolutionize the lives of people around the world.
