Sustainability and technology: the new era of connected kitchens
Regional Product Manager for Samsung Latin America, Lucas Truffi Barci, analyzes how the integration of AI and connectivity is transforming the culinary experience
The kitchen, traditionally seen as a routine space, is becoming increasingly smart, efficient and personalized. With the implementation of artificial intelligence (AI), cooking has become a more practical, intuitive and stimulating experience.
This trend directly reflects the growing consumer demand for solutions that save time and energy, while also contributing to the environment. They are looking for a connected kitchen, where devices interact in an integrated way, facilitating task management and offering creative and healthy solutions.
According to recent data from Samsung, Use of the SmartThings ecosystem is growing significantly in Latin America, especially in Brazil, Mexico and Colombia, which demonstrates the growing acceptance of smart connectivity by Latin Americans. This becomes even more evident when analyzing market studies that project significant growth in smart homes. Such is the case of the consulting firm Mordor Intelligence, which predicts that the global market for smart appliances will reach USD 53.61 billion by 2029, with an annual growth of almost 9%..
In the kitchen, the application of AI transforms the connected home experience, going beyond voice commands or digital recipes, for example. This powerful tool automates tasks, such as adjusting oven temperatures, and integrates sensors that notify you when it's time to replenish ingredients. Imagine opening your refrigerator and knowing what foods are about to expire or receiving recipe suggestions based on what you already have. It seems like a distant future, but we are talking about the here and now.
Samsung considers all the necessary differentials to shape the technological kitchen, and the Series 7 5-Burner Stove with Chamber and Air Fry is a practical example of these functionalities. With a modern stainless steel design and Wi-Fi connectivity, the kitchen allows you to monitor and control food preparation directly from your cell phone through the SmartThings application. In addition, it has an internal chamber that allows you to continue the cooking process without having to open the door, guaranteeing practicality and efficiency.
Samsung's ecosystem also allows you to control other devices in an integrated way, creating a more convenient experience. Smart refrigerators, ovens, cooktops and microwaves communicate with each other and with other devices, allowing remote control and adjustment of settings according to user needs. For example, the oven can automatically preheat when a recipe is selected in the SmartThings app, while the cooktop adjusts the heat intensity to suit the preparation.
An innovation that will arrive in Samsung appliances in 2025 is the Voice ID, which recognizes different family members and adapts recommendations according to their individual preferences, also promoting accessibility and inclusion. In this way, each user can enjoy personalized interactions and obtain results that are more aligned with what they are looking for.
It was with our consumers in mind—who, in Latin America, for example, value the connectivity of home appliances for remote control and the creation of personalized routines—that we developed complete solutions not only for the kitchen, but for the home and daily life as a whole. With this in mind, Samsung's proposal goes beyond selling products: we seek to offer solutions that contribute to a more practical, connected and sustainable future.
