Smart Houses: Take control of your home

Habits and daily activities are transformed from new technologies and the advent of artificial intelligence. How does this technological revolution impact when projecting a home? What are multifunctional households? Home automation provides some answers so that we can think what the houses will be like in a not so distant future, equipped with increasingly efficient and sustainable intelligent appliances.

Of the traditional home to the multifunction house
Today, society is hyperconnected, and households also need to be. Before, appliances acquired by families were mostly associated with housework: cleaning, kitchen, leisure activities in free time, that is, all tasks linked to “inhabit”.
On the other hand, at present, the format of a house implies thinking of “multifunctional spaces”, which also adapt to other activities such as work, the study, without neglecting areas designed for relaxation and well -being.
The trends realize that with the arrival of AI, appliances and household items will become part of integrated systems that aim to provide users with higher quality and efficiency in each of the activities of their routines.
Home automation, an intelligent system
It is automation and centralized and/or remote control of the different facilities of a home, whose objectives are: increase comfort, save energy and improve household safety in every way.
Home automation makes it possible for us to turn artifacts for example from a mobile device, schedule air conditioning or washing systems, connect an alarm, light the lights at a distance, open or close doors, enter so many other actions.
What are the 3 key points of home automation?
By Richard Itanare, Gralf engineer.
In the field of intelligent products there are different points of view on what are the key points for the implementation of home automation. It depends on the diversity of cultures that we find throughout the world. Here we will develop the concepts that are key and important to be able to implement this technology in homes.
- Comfort
Home automation at home facilitates people's daily life by making everyday activities a simpler, since everything can be controlled with a single click from a single device and the automation system can adapt to the changing needs of those who inhabit the house. The system can be as complex or simple as the user requires it.
On the other hand, after the pandemic, many people are for many hours at home, either to work (new global remote work trend), to do physical activity or on streaming platforms, since it has decreased considerably the exit to theaters. This generated that consumers wonder if their home was really a comfortable place to be, with which His curiosity was shot at the "smart products."
There are currently several products that can meet some comfort needs. Either with the drive of a device or several or through the configuration of “scenes” from the application of Smart Life that can be downloaded in Android or iOS. For example, the GRALF GF-SMIR is able to control devices that have remote controls with infrared technology (IR), which can turn off or turn on an air conditioning without being inside the home and heating at an optimal temperature before reaching the house. You can also turn off the TV to children from one room to another, without the need to enter the bedroom and run the risk of waking them.
- Security
The devices focused on home automation, sometimes fulfill an important role that is security within businesses or houses. Housing automation allows the permanent connectivity of users with their home, so they can control all the elements integrated to the system from anywhere and know what happens at all times. In this way, the user can detect, for example, a fire or water escape and monitor the safety devices that he has installed in the house.
It is common to listen to several people who go on vacation and have to resort to a family member, friend or known so that, sometimes, he approaches the house and ignites the lights to simulate some “presence”. The function that GRALF GF-SMS01 provides for example is very useful in this type of cases. It is a door and windows sensor that can be combined with other intelligent products to form automation. If used at home, this sensor, when it detects an opening or closure, can automatically send the command to run another device where a sound warning, LED lighting, or any other necessary safety measure is connected.
- Energy savings
With the high demand for electricity consumption that can imply a summer with very high temperatures or a winter with very low temperatures, it is when products that allow control of electrical consumption to be carried out. In this way, you can keep an energy record that is consumed daily, and, with which, through automation, each of the appliances in the home can be used, more efficiently. It can be saved, in many cases, up to more than 60% in the total amount of the light ballot.
Gralf is an Argentine brand that markets and distributes measuring, control and electrical equipment instruments. Its objective is to meet the needs of efficient measurements in electric power. In addition, it specializes in providing home automation solutions.
Smart Cottage: The disruptive proposal of LG
The innovative LG housing solution It provides a functional life environment and maximum space efficiency. Will be presented in IFA 2023, the important technological fair to be held in September in Berlin.
The Smart Cottage is a compact and prefabricated house that incorporates heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) and LG avant -garde energy, as well as its new intelligent domestic appliances and domestic services. Combining Premium appliances and convenient services with a built space using the latest in modular housing technologies and techniques, LG Smart Cottage presents a new paradigm in residential life.
“Mucho más que una casa prefabricada, LG Smart Cottage es una solución disruptiva de vivienda que facilita obtener un estilo de vida sostenible a través de la conectividad ThinQ de última generación”, señala Lyu Jae-cheol, presidente de LG Electronics Home Appliance & Air Solution. “LG pretende redefinir la vida residencial integrando a la perfección sus soluciones energéticas, electrodomésticos y servicios en un espacio sostenible que permita a las personas vivir la vida al máximo”.

Inside, the space gives a relaxed and sophisticated sensation thanks to the “soft, stable and refined” design of LG and the harmonious use of various materials, such as hard wood, tiles and brass. To reduce the environmental impact, the components of the house replaceable module have been manufactured with low carbon content materials.
Innovative kitchen solutions, high-efficiency living room and LG air installed in LG Smart Cottage include the Washtower Compact, Quadwash ™ dishwasher, several cooking appliances built, a water purifier and the heat-water heat pump Therma V ™ Monobloc (AWHP). In addition to offering interior comfort throughout the year while using less energy than a conventional heating and cooling system, LG energy saving AWHP can provide a reliable hot water supply through the connection to the 200 -liter integrated water tank (IWT).
Moving towards the outside, the exterior of the Smart Cottage is equipped with LG technologies focused on sustainability that can meet the daily energy needs of up to two occupants. The 4 -kilowatt solar panels (KW) mounted on the ceiling are connected to the company's energy storage system (ESS) to guarantee the collection and storage of safe energy safe, generating up to 15 kilowatts of electricity per day. Any energy surplus can be stored in the ESS for subsequent use or sold at the contracted electricity service. In addition, the Modular House of LG has an incorporated electric vehicle loader (EV), so the owners will not have to worry about installing one themselves to turn on their EV.
For a easier and more convenient user experience, all appliances within this extraordinary house are perfectly connected with LG Thinq. Through the THINQ application, users can control each device effortlessly, administer the entire HVAC system and monitor storage and real -time energy consumption. In addition, LG Thinq connects to Internet accessories (IoT) that improve Smart Cottage's security, which include cameras, movement sensors and smart timbres, which helps keep occupants safe, providing them with peace of mind.
According to a recent investigation by Reportlinker, it is estimated that this type of housing reaches a market of 22.9 billion dollars in 2028, with an annual growth of 4.8%.
