Codini shares a series of practical recommendations for the correct use of all washing machine models.

Choosing the right type of washing machine for the mode and frequency of use is essential. For example, it is not the same capacity that a large family will need as a person who lives alone.

It is also very important to take the time to read the user manuals that come with the appliance to know the available procedures and their correct uses.

On this occasion, Diego Bicego, Production Manager at Codini, shares a series of tips that are useful for the care of all types of washing machines. These are:

1. Locate the washing machine in a place where the floor is level, with a slightly humid environment and, preferably, away from sunlight and heat sources, such as the stove. If it has adjustable legs, the leveling of the legs must be taken into account.

2. Before putting clothes in, check the pockets to prevent small objects, such as coins, from blocking the drum.

3. Do not exceed the load indicated on the washing machine. As a reference, the water should exceed the clothing by 5 centimeters. Otherwise, the clothes will not be washed efficiently and will also make the motor work harder, which can cause damage over time. Some models may have the maximum load mark on the inside of the drum.

4. Unload the washing machine once the program has finished, as the weight of wet clothes can damage the shock absorbers if left there for a long time.

5. Leave the door ajar after washing so that the washing machine drum can ventilate, which prevents the appearance of mold and bad odors. In these cases, it is important to always check the drum before each wash, since sometimes children can leave toys or objects that could damage the washing machine.

6. Remove and dry the detergent and fabric softener compartment every 8 or 10 washes so that fungus does not form inside the equipment.

7. Dry any residue that may remain on the rubber inside the washing machine after each wash.

8. Clean the filters frequently.

9. Perform self-cleaning periodically. If the washing machine does not have a specific self-cleaning program, you can program the hot water cycle once a month and add 1 to 2 liters of white vinegar for cleaning.

10. Carry out the maintenance checks and washes recommended by the manufacturer.

“Currently, washing machines have a useful life of approximately 10 years and, if the user takes most of these recommendations into account, they will be able to extend the useful life of this appliance,” says Bicego.
